Day/Night Rabbits

An illustration for Picture Hooks’ ‘Loud/Quiet’ competition brief. I wanted to add some funny animal characters in their habitat to my portfolio, so chose a rabbit warren to contrast a lively and loud day scene and a quiet night!

I try to get compositions right in the sketch stage, keeping the burrows the same, but pushing the character and poses of the rabbits in each scene. I then digitally painted some colour roughs in Procreate to experiment with different palette ideas and how I would best show the day/night scenes, before moving on to the final artwork.
