The Beach Clean
A self-initiated illustration, thinking about altruism and kindness within the community and how children could feel inspired to be a part of that to combat negative news of climate change. So I came up with the idea of a beach clean-up club. I was also really inspired by beautiful Welsh landscapes after a visit there earlier this year!
Here’s a little insight into my illustration process. First, I did a fast ideation session working out some different concepts and doing quick thumbnail roughs – these are a couple of my favourites including the beach clean idea, which I then flipped so that the composition would lead the eye from left to right. I then draw up the final linework, which I like to get as tight as possible (and approved by a client) before the colouring stage.
After I’ve nailed down the sketch, I digitally paint some colour roughs in Procreate to experiment with different palette ideas and how they work with the feel of the project and what direction I want to go in. Once I’ve selected my (/the client’s) favourite, which in this case was the bottom centre colour scheme, I move on to the final artwork!
